About The Author

Mr. Edward Charles Freeman also know as "Big Ed", was born on a plantation in a rural community and is one of twelve siblings. His parents Walter and Ruby Freeman, were sharecroppers and shared a deep love for community, country music, and family. The late Walter Freeman instilled a passion for country music within his son Edward as young child by singing the latest hits and listening to music on their home radio. Even though his father was unable to fulfill his life's dream of becoming a country music star due to family obligations and the racial climate at the time, his son would one day pursue that same dream.

Big Ed met his wife, Theresa, in the 70's and served in the United States Air Force for a number of years. He retired from the military then became a general contractor. Throughout his life, Ed and his wife traveled the world, raised three children, and brought them up to respect their elders, love family, and honor their family history. Big Ed and Theresa also have three grandchildren and two "fur-babies" as pets.

Big Ed discovered that his oldest daughter, Adrianna, desired to sing and play the guitar, so he enrolled her in music lessons. Soon after, Adrianna started singing at the family's produce stand and at the local flea market at the suggestion of her late grandfather, Walter Freeman, who said, "She can sing right there on the stage, and I will watch her". From that moment, Adrianna started developing her musical craft and continued the family dream that was passed down by her father and his father.

The family began their Nashville experience chronicled in the this book, after the death of Big Ed's father. When the family started traveling to Nashville regularly following Adrianna's burst onto the country music scene, Big Ed's late mother, Ruby Freeman, would can fruit preserves in Mason jars so Adrianna could give them out as tokens to her fans. She would say, "Ed, you make sure they remember my granddaughter, and I hope these preserves help a little." Despite having to overcome many struggles while on their journey to fame, the Freeman family's admiration for country music, love of family and their community has never wavered. In fact, Big Ed and Adrianna have only become more tenacious and determined to see their family's dream grown even larger. Today, Ed and his family live in Tallahassee, Florida.
